I didn’t fall in love with Bangkok until my first trip there. Among the world’s most beautiful cities, Bangkok takes the top spot.To fall in love with someone, you only have to spend some time getting to know and appreciate them. As a result, most visitors only stay a few days in Bangkok before heading out to the jungle or the islands. You may not require a lot of time to see Bangkok as a tourist, but the city is worth more than a few days spent there.
Unlike Paris, New York, London, and Buenos Aires, which all offer a plethora of “tourist attractions,” Bangkok has none. Bangkok is a great city for sight-seeing, dining, and drinking. Those who avoid the touts, temples, tourists and instead immerse themselves in the local culture will find that this is a city that has plenty to offer. Suddenly, the splendour of Bangkok is shown to you! Bangkok offers a diverse range of experiences, from the inexpensive to the extravagant, the unusual to the entertaining. Bangkok is a city that has it all, and it is the reviews of Thrillophilia on the internet that sparked my interest in it.
So, what are the top attractions in Bangkok? When you visit Bangkok, what are you likely to see? If anyone is planning a trip to Bangkok and wants to get off the beaten path in order to truly experience the city, here is my experience to help them out!
On November 12 2021, I and my best friend booked a Bangkok trip with Thrillophilia where we reached the Suvarnabhumi Airport, and went out to explore the Grand Palace and the nearby Wat Pho. Here we found the world-famous reclining Buddha and a massage school, as our first stops on the first day of the Bangkok tour. Of course, we could not go inside any of the palace’s buildings because it’s only used for official state functions, but we explored the grounds, and open temples for free.
It’s gorgeous, and the architecture’s fine-tuned craftsmanship is astounding. We were able to avoid the crowds as we visited in the early morning hours. Next, we visited Wat Pho, where the reclining Buddha is housed, the famous Golden Buddha). There were a lot of statues to see at Wat Pho, but it’s easy to get lost in the temple grounds, which take up an entire city block.
Having been enthused by the Thrillophilia reviews we knew we had to explore the beaches. Thus, the next day we escaped the city noise and smog and left for Pattaya. We enjoyed a great deal of water sports here and later we headed to Koh Samet where we gorged on some of the most delicious seafood items.
The next day we decided to dedicate our day to get our share of adrenaline. So we wakeboarder, climbed rocks, go karted, surfed on the waves with our surfboard, skydived, and even dived with sharks. To this day, I and my friend get memories of the fun time we had.
The Thrillophilia reviews had mention of the best shopping places and I and my shopaholic friend knew that a major part of our experience was incomplete without us filling our bags with goodies. Anyways, off we went and unleashed our inner shopaholic. It was impossible to keep track of everything we wanted to buy but it was possible to find everything from high-end clothing to souvenirs for a fraction of the cost. We flocked to Siam Square, one of Bangkok’s most popular shopping destinations. This outdoor shopping centre where the latest fashions are born, proved to be a haven for fashionistas like us. High-end brands and small-town vendors both sell their wares here, and we got oodles of them.
Bangkok’s MBK Center, the city’s most famous mall, did not disappoint either. For compulsive shoppers like us we had the ultimate shopping experience with eight floors of retail space. We also managed to stop by Chatuchak Weekend Market to find every wacky and unique item that we didn’t know we needed. But I have to admit that the night markets were a pleasant surprise. While shopping at night, we were able to find some incredible deals.
To appreciate Thailand’s most famous river, we took a cruise on the Chao Phraya, and trust me when I say that the most inexpensive way to get across the river is to take a water taxi for less than 30 Baht. We began at the central pier, walked to the end, and returned to the starting point. We also took half-day trips to the floating markets in and around the city; one at (Khlong Lat Mayom and the other at Taling Chan.
On our trip we made the most of our time to get up close and personal with the animals in the Crocodile Farm and Zoo, Siam Ocean World, and absolutely loved the tropical African and Asian Jungles at the Safari world zoo.
